Research Center for Sustainable Development (RCSD)

Sustainable development is the effort to achieve long-term improvement in quality of life with minimal environmental damage and is a key element in the emerging research paradigm of human security. RCSD supports and promotes research in areas that include the theoretical, historical and critical analyses of ideals and policies for development; discourse analysis; field-based research in developing sites around the world; and action-based empirical research conducted by practitioners. RCSD also holds seminars and symposiums, inviting researchers and practitioners from both Japan and abroad, publishes its own research outcomes, and works to give back to society the fruits of its research and educational activities as well as to forge collaborative ties with practitioners.
