Abstract:
This seminar will look back on the history of intellectual exchange between Japan and India and consider the role of universities in promoting relations between the two nations. Universities are places of inquiry into universal truths that transcend the specific interests of nations and corporations. The history of intellectual exchange between Japan and India has developed around the idea of universality and the affirmation of its diverse manifestations. What is required of intellectual exchange led by universities is to develop the ideals for a new era and a roadmap for their realization, and to work practically together with corporates, governments and civil society to create an environment in which diverse humans and other-than-humans can enjoy each other’s existence.
